Corbett Heritage Jungle Safari
Ramnagar forest division has launched the Corbett Heritage Tourism Circuit, expected to begin on Nov 15, to enhance visitor experiences and promote conservation in the Kaladhungi range and Pawalgarh Conservation Reserve. The trail includes locations featured in conservationist Jim Corbett's writings, with significant historical and literary value. The project also honours Jim Corbett's legacy, particularly his experiences in ‘Man-Eaters of Kumaon', which features the ‘Bachelor of Powalgarh.'
The Kaladhungi range, known for its diverse ecosystems, is home to tigers, elephants, and over 350 bird species, including the Great Slaty Woodpecker.
Deputy director Diganth Nayak said the initiative will allow tourists to explore the area's natural beauty while raising awareness of its ecological significance and tiger conservation efforts. The project will also boost the local economy by creating jobs and developing sustainable tourism routes.
With this new route, Ramnagar forest division aims to attract eco-conscious travellers and foster a greater appreciation for the region's natural heritage, supporting both conservation and the local economy while preserving Jim Corbett's legacy.
